鞘器皿源自部落以檳榔葉鞘烹煮食物的生活方式。人們將葉鞘折成長形、近似船形的容器，放入水與食材；再於一旁生火加熱石頭，將燒熱的石頭放入器皿中，利用石頭釋放的熱度將水與食物煮熟。這種烹調方式一般被稱為「石頭火鍋」。
拿鞘以這段材料使用經驗為起點，保留葉鞘自然的曲線、纖維與色澤，將其轉化為日常使用的器皿，可盛放桌面小物、乾燥食材或包裝內容物。若要盛裝食物，建議先鋪放烘焙紙或其他隔絕材料，避免食物直接接觸葉鞘，也較方便重複使用。
每件作品皆以天然葉鞘手工折製，紋理、色澤、彎曲程度與實際尺寸可能略有不同。

The sheath utensil is inspired by a traditional Indigenous method of cooking with betel nut leaf sheath. The sheath was folded into a long, boat-like container and filled with water and ingredients. Stones were heated in a nearby fire and then placed into the vessel, where their retained heat brought the water to a boil and cooked the food. This cooking method is commonly known as stone boiling.
Drawing on this traditional use of the material, Na Chiao transforms the naturally curved leaf sheath into an everyday vessel while preserving its original fibers, textures, and colors. It can be used to hold small objects, dry foods, or packaged items. When serving food, we recommend lining the vessel with baking paper or another protective material to avoid direct contact with the leaf sheath and make repeated use easier.
Each piece is folded by hand from natural betel nut leaf sheath. Variations in texture, color, curvature, and dimensions are part of the material’s natural character.

鞘器皿は、檳榔（ビンロウ）の葉鞘を使って食物を調理していた、先住民族の暮らしの知恵に由来しています。葉鞘を細長い舟のような形に折り、水と食材を入れます。その傍らで石を火にかけて熱し、焼いた石を器の中に入れ、石が放つ熱によって湯を沸かし、食材を煮ていました。これは、熱した石を使って煮炊きする「石蒸し・石煮」と呼ばれる調理方法です。
拿鞘では、こうした素材の使われ方をもとに、葉鞘本来の曲線や繊維、色合いを生かしながら、日常で使える器へと仕立てています。卓上の小物や乾燥した食品、包装されたものなどを入れる器としてお使いいただけます。食品を盛り付ける際は、葉鞘に直接触れないよう、クッキングシートなどを敷いていただくと、繰り返し使いやすくなります。
天然の檳榔の葉鞘を一つひとつ手作業で折り上げているため、模様や色合い、曲線、仕上がり寸法にはそれぞれ違いがあります。素材が持つ自然な個性としてお楽しみください。
